# Running an ad

> How to set up a banner ad and choose its run dates and cost.

You can run an ad in `Rocketpunch` > `Enterprise Services` > `Advertising` > `Start advertising` by selecting `Get started`.

## Banner ads

### Choosing a banner type

Pick where the ad appears first. Selecting a type shows a preview.

| Type            | Where it appears                                             |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Standard banner | Posts, profiles, company pages, and elsewhere                |
| Home banner     | At the top of the home screen when someone opens Rocketpunch |

### Preparing your creative

| Field            | Specification                                                                                                                            |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Main text        | Up to 2 lines, 40 characters                                                                                                             |
| Sub text         | Up to 40 characters                                                                                                                      |
| Destination URL  | The address the banner opens when selected                                                                                               |
| Background media | PNG, JPG, GIF, MP4, or MOV, up to 5MB <br />If the background image is bright and the text is hard to read, turn on `Darken background`. |
| Logo             | SVG or PNG with no background, up to 5MB. Optional.                                                                                      |

### Run dates and how cost is calculated

An ad can run for up to 60 days at a time. The cost is the daily rate multiplied by the number of days. The total appears at the bottom of the setup screen; check it, then select `Start banner ad`.
