# Cancel an event ticket

> Learn how to cancel a registered ticket and get a refund for a paid ticket.

You can cancel a registered ticket before the event starts. Canceling a free ticket releases your spot, and canceling a paid ticket starts a refund at the same time.

## Before you cancel

* **When you can cancel:** You can cancel a ticket any time up until the event starts.
* **Run by the host:** Rocketpunch is a platform that connects you with events, and each host sets how their event runs and what the refund terms are. For questions about the event itself, such as schedule changes, cancellations, or refund conditions, contact the host directly.

## Canceling a free ticket

If you cancel a free ticket before the event starts, your spot is released. Since there was no payment, there is no separate refund process.

## Canceling and refunding a paid ticket

You can cancel a paid ticket you purchased before the event starts, and the refund is processed together with the cancellation.

Refund terms follow the refund policy set by the host running the event first. Refunds are returned to the payment method you used, and take 3 to 7 business days depending on the payment provider.

| The host set a refund policy         | You are refunded according to that policy, up until the event starts. |
| The host did not set a refund policy | You can request a refund up to 24 hours before the event starts.      |
